Can A Snake Lose Its' Teeth From an Insufficient Diet?

I rescued a ball python in February who was nearly starved to death. I could feel all her ribs and she was lethargic, on top of having two retained sheds I had to remove. I checked her mouth when I rescued her for rot but found it looking pink with no sign of stomatitis. I did, however, notice that she was missing half of a row of teeth on her upper jaw, and I know her former owners never took her to the vet, and stomatitis wouldn't have just cleared up on its' own. So, I was wondering if anyone knew if snakes could lose their teeth due to malnutrition or starvation? Any info helps. Thanks.

Just a tidbit of info: She has been eating regularly in my care and her overall health is improving by the day. She's gaining weight very rapidly and the retained eyecaps didn't plind her, which is encouraging and I'm certain she's going to make a 100% recovery from the neglect she suffered for those several years. And, despite it all, she has a wonderful personality! ^_^

Can A Snake Lose Its' Teeth From an Insufficient Diet?
Snakes can loose their teeth from malnutrition, but it is possible that she bit some one or something they wore, and got them tore out, (i have had snakes bite me and leave teeth in my hands and leather coat) The teeth do grow back if their root tissue didnt receive damage. This snake will be permantly attached to you, reptiles do understand when they have been rescued, and they do show that they know you are their human. You did a good thing and seem to have wonderfull progress. I have rescued so many reptiles and rehabilitated them (Over 200 with only two I had to put down). Whether her teeth grow back or not dont worry. She seems to know you are the best thing in her world. If you have the drive, rescue more. There are so many that need it. You can e mail me direct for future questions, and I also have a pict if my 6 pound iggy. reptileden0@yahoo.com
Reply:Sorry, to me the best snake is a dead snake. In TX, we have more snake species than any other state in the US. Maybe your snake is just old?
