I just got all 4 of my wisdom teeth taken out and when i took the gauze out of my mouth i notice my crown is missing on my molar that I had a root canal. This tooth was next to a wisdom tooth that was starting to cut through the gum. If this is normal, shouldn't someone have told me at the dentist office that they had to remove it? I didn't find out until I got home and took the gauze out. Now I guess I'm going to have to pay to have a new crown put on??? I'm going to call the dentist office on Monday to see if this is normal. I thought I would see if this has happened to anyone else.
Is it normal to have a crown removed when you have your wisdom teeth extracted?
If the crown came off during the surgical procedure the doctor should have told you. It can be recemented after the bleeding stops and you heal up some but should have been recemented with a temporary cement while you were there. In any case, the crown was loosened during the procedure and you should not have to pay for a new one. You need to call your dentist right now and not wait until Mon. to find out where your crown is.
Reply:This is not normal, if for some reason they had to remove it they should have told u. Possibly it broke when they were extracting your tooth, doubtful. It could of loosened, u could of swolled it(which wouldn't harm u). If something happened while u were there to the crown they should have told u. Maybe too they cut the crn off to get to the wisdom tooth, but that would be something they should have told u defintely. Sounds like someone messed up.Good Luck, I hope if someone did they don't say u probably lost it and fess up so u don't have to pay all that $ for a new one. But u and I both know the world doesn't always work that way. Good Luck
Reply:..in addition to what Doc said, when you call the office, ask them to look in the Red Bag as well.
~Sure hope you find it!
