My teeth are moving, and i just got my braces off in September....?

I had braces for a year and 4 months,


and they said i could get them off a month and half earlier,


so i did;


and i wear my retainer every night, i've only missed two nights


but my teeth are moving still


even with the retainer





i'm going to go to the orthodontist at some point,


but does this mean that i'll have to get braces back on again?

wear your retainer all the time for now. there's to be some shift expected, but not a lot. so wear it until you see your ortho. he'll tell you what to do next-I had the same problem.

Reply:~not necessarily. however, have your mom make an appointment as soon as possible. the quicker the better! u may have to wear that retainer 24/7.

Reply:I got mine off a couple of years back, so i know that they are gonna be a bit loose for a while. It is normal, but be careful. Try not to push them with your tounge too much, and also Make sure that your wear your retainer when you are supposed to, becasue its sole purpose is to "retain" the fixes that your braces did.
Reply:I would think they would just adjust the retainer tighter instead of putting braces back on...but be careful, they may want your money again and say to put them back on. I'd see if they could tighten retainer first!

You might need to wear your retainer during they day also, or maybe get a special plate to keep your teeth still. Its not so bad, and worth it.
Reply:Sounds like you need to wear your reatiner during the day AND night for a while... then maybe just at night after another 6 months or so.





I had braces on for 5 years! And my retainer broke after 6 months and my teeth moved in less then 2 weeks. Now I have a gap between my front teeth again (the whole reason I got braces in the first place!!)





WEAR THE REATINER 24/7 - only take it out to brush and eat for now.
Reply:You are supposed to wear your retainers all day long and all night long for at least 3 months before wearing them at night only. I don't know what they told you, but that is what I did. And you should expect some shifting too. Teeth will never be perfect, but if your teeth get too crooked then that's bad and you should talk to your ortho about adjusting your retainer to get your teeth back in line.

Reply:Hmmm...sounds like they made a mistake. If they didn't say anything about movement to you, then you should call them and go back and have them take a look at that. Also, you are supposed to wear your retainer for a few hours during the day. Especially during the first few months of getting the braces taken off. I don't think it means you have to get braces again, but if you did, legally, they would be the ones who would have to pay for it. Also, is the retainer adjusted correctly?
