Do dogs grow in a new set of teeth?

My dog was chewing on his toy and all of a sudden i see that she stopped playin with it i looked at her toy and it had blood on it...then i checked her mouth and she was missing a tooth.

Reply:No they dont. I am sorry but I hope you take her to the vet. I think they never grow teeth since their teeth is very tough and hard. Give her calcium for her bones and teeth. She may need it since she is breaking her tooth against toys. Best of luck doggie lover.

Reply:how old is your dog? if she is a puppy then yes they lose their puppy teeth and grow in adult teeth normally starting at 4 months old lasting through 6-7 months. if its already an adult tooth i dont think so if its gone its gone

If you have a dog older than one year and he is losing his teeth you will want to take him to the vet to have his teeth and gums checked for disease.

Reply:oh yes! when they are about a year old, they start losing their baby teeth and growing new teeth just like 1st graders! If the dog nibbles on you, it won't hurt as much when they get the adult teeth
Reply:Yes they do. Becareful though, mine liked to eat his. I used to catch him chewing on them. I would suggest pulling them out of her mouth if you catch her chewing on them.

Reply:Dogs have 2 sets of teeth. They have "milk" or puppy teeth and they have adult teeth. If your dog is young 5-6 months old and she lost a tooth, then yes she will get another one. If your dog is older than a 8-9 months (especially toy breeds), then no, she will always have a missing tooth.
