Gap in teeth?

i need a serious professional or someone with experience...my cousin has a very large gap between her teeth two front teeth almost as if one of her front teeth is missing and she needs a frenectomy prior to getting braces. has anyone ever had this problem or know the best option for it or how long braces take, and if there are any serious complications with getting a frenectomy

Gap in teeth?
My older brother had a gap in his teeth all his life until he was in his early 30s. His gap was severe. We used to tease him and say he could eat corn on the cob through a picket fence. lol Now he has no gap because he got braces. (I think he had them for 2 or 2 1/2 years.) He also had to have a frenectomy. It was no big deal, as it's just a piece of skin that's removed surgically. See the link below for a description and picture of what one looks like.

The only thing someone with a big gap has to watch out for is the tendency of the teeth to spread again once the braces are removed. But if your cousin just follows her orthodontist's advice regarding her retainers, she should have no problems.

Reply:A cosmetic dentist could help with her problem
Reply:If her teeth are straight and she just has a Gap braces are not necessary. She can get porcelain veneers instead but what sucks is they cost about $750, for one tooth and she will need at least two done.
Reply:Gee! My bro used to have some too but at this moment the gaps are closing gradually and they now looks almost the same as normal. This open tooth is because by sucking your lips or figures for a very long time. May form birth to your teens and the only way you can cure a serious one is to put on braces. The number of years it will take depends on how wide the teethes are open and how fast your teeth can grow. But it normally takes one to two years. So you just send your cousin to a dental sch for the braces which is the best then going to shape certain teethes
