I am reminded of a recent trip to the dentist. While the dentist was
cleaning my teeth he said to me,
"I do not believe in God."
Now this dentist knows what I do for a living and how important my
faith is to me, yet for numerous reasons (one main one being his hands
were in my mouth) I uncharacteristically remained silent, allowing him
to explain;
"How can God exist and still allow all the suffering and pain in the
world?"
I remained quiet until he was finished (and of course put his tools
away) and told him that "I do not believe in dentists."
This confused him greatly so I clarified for him that if there are
dentists in the world, how can so many people have broken, infected
and missing teeth?
He answered me "I cannot help anyone who does not come to me to have
their teeth fixed."
That reply is the same for faith. He cannot help people until they
come to Him in repentance and faith, accept Him in their lives and ask
Him for help.
Does this answer some of the questions about why there is hurt in the world if there is a god?
You people and your idiotic made up stories. You understand no one.
Reply:gets me thinking....
Reply:Best answer I heard so far...well done.
Reply:thats not bad. You should preach.
Reply:Beautifully done! Thank you sooooo much. I will use this every day.
Reply:Dentists do not cause tooth decay, they just treat the symptoms. Thus your question should not be "Why should a god not help someone who is suffering?" but "Why should a god choose to create suffering in the first place?".
Your question is invalid, try again.
Reply:I think you said it perfectly! God bless you!
Reply:That is such a good explanation. Thanks for sharing it with all of us. :)
Reply:nope sorry doesnt help
Reply:nicely done - I totally agree - thanks for sharing
Reply:Wonderfu! I'll bet that put him in his place.
Reply:Yeah, but if a starving child from Ethiopia goes to a dentist every week he will have his teeth fixed. If he goes to church on Sunday and prays for food he will still be starving.
Reply:you hit the nail on the head
Reply:God is the creator, preserver and destroyer of the Earth..not our caretaker that He will see we are not hurt !!!!!
Reply:Hello,
I believe God helps us regardless, but to be eternally saved you have to repent. If God doesn't care or love us, he wouldn't have come down from high above, to take our sins away.
He could have wiped out humanity and start over again, but God didn't.
Remember in the bible it talks about how all the suffering will come and stuff........
Remember God gave us free will, we decide what to do with it and then when we die, we will be judged on that.
I truly belieeve that God exist, i think he needs to speak to the right people. I am not saying that you are not one of the right people.
What about Satan, he is well in fact..some of the route of the problem, as far as i know Satan tempts people on bad things, but God also gave us the will to resisit the Satan Temptations.
There is a God, people have free will they decied what they want to do .
Reply:Well done for using such a clever answer. He was trying to ridicule your belief and you turned the tables on him.
Reply:we are, what we are, that is if one follows the bad path, certainly he'll reach the wrong destination, the same applies to one who follows God's directions and live accordingly, will never suffer as whatever happens out of our own faults, rather surrender yourself to God, so everywhere you'll find only love no hatred at all. you tend to hurt only when you dont love. love, love and love and see the miracle and try to change those who don't believe in God.
Reply:your answer holds the truth. however, it does not really answer the question about God's allowing pain, suffering, starving children, etc in the world. If God is so almighty, why does he allow all this? I think it all has to do with the fall of man, and free will. The curse of death is on us all, and we are all sinful by nature. This world now belongs to satan, therefore, it is full of death, destruction, starvation, terrorism, wars and more.
Reply:I am pleased for you if you truly believe in God, but personally I don't precisely and partly because of what you mentioned. Prove to me that God exists and then maybe I will consider reaquiring my faith.
Reply:It was an exdellant reply ...
I agree with you 100%
Reply:listen i know that god exists because he is helping me right now i was following the wrong crowd because i was just a lost teenager in the world, the world is full of crime, drugs and desitfull women and god gave us free will u either follow the will of god or follow the will of the devil the choice is up 2 u
Reply:nice...
Reply:yes it does! great analogy, God blessed you with His Holy Spirit. isn't that always the way when we believe in Christ. you were mentally and (physically) in pain? the Lord healed you then blessed you with the words to heal the dentist's heart and show him the truth. bless you
Reply:I like this story. But it is not a question, is it?
Let's not forget, when God made the world and filled it with people, plants and animals, he said that it was good. And by God's standard, good must have been perfect.
So the original world God made would have had no pain or suffering or death at all, at least until people started breaking God's rules.
God didn't create the pain, people did, through direct disobedience to God. God's rules were for our well being and happiness. Just as we have a rule requiring us to drive on the correct side of the dividing line on the highway. If we disobey that rule, people die.
Yet, even today, these same people who try to use that old argument about 'How could God allow pain' disobey rules all the time, doing the very thing that causes the pain they claim to criticize.
God also promised us a new heaven and a new earth, a place with no pain and no sorrow. And these people with their lame argument will miss out on the world they 'say' they want, because they really don't care about any of that, they just want to live their lives with no accountability. They want to break the rules and not feel bad about it.
SUCCESS!
Reply:A nice story (I think I have heard it before) but it doesn't explain the suffering caused by natural disasters or by acts of evil (such as 9/11, which has some very disturbing facts surrounding it, by the way, which suggest that the real perpetrators were much closer to home than the US Government would have us believe. http://911research.wtc7.net/wtc/evidence... ... and many other pages.)
Reply:Very good, Loved to read it. Thanks...
Reply:I thought the point was that even people who accepted god and went to him for help were still suffering and thats why they lost their belief in him.
Reply:No. It complicates the question.
When an earthquake hits, believers and non-believer both suffer terrible deaths. Those who pray and those who don't.
In places of famine, you can find both believers and non-believers. Both of them die terrible, unimaginable deaths.
I am happy that you believe in God. I hope it helps you do well in the world. But please remember that you are susceptible to just the same risks - pain, suffering, heartbreak, disease, disasters - as people who believe differently than you.
Reply:No, it does not in any way!
Instead of going to the dentist, you should have had faith in god and repented for all the junk food you ate and then should accept god in your life and beg Him for help! Bingo!
Reply:Comming to Faith and your repentance - what that means is you've acted at odds to the world and are doing what ZGod is telling you inside whats right.
That takes courage, integrity, Strength, Wisdom, loyaty, initaitive, and true love.
Its the interplay that fashions your desire for whats right that fuels an eternal engine of creations essence./Desire. BuddhistoF_Imam
Reply:Sarah thanks for that, it helps me to explain it to others now.
