My History:
I was born without four permanent teeth. I am now 23 years old and have had braces for over ten years now to move teeth I do have into their correct position and prepare my mouth for some permanent solution. I am now at the point where I am ready to FINALLY take that next step but options are limited and outrageously expensive for one missing tooth, let alone four. The only options I can afford (bridges or denture like replacements) will never be ideally functional and require maintenance down the line. My best option and really only desirable option is to have implants. This requires multiple bone grafting surgeries as well as the implantations themselves...all totalling well over $25,000. I just graduated from college, have a limited amount of credit, and no way to pay for my teeth. The problem is that almost no insurance companies cover this because they say it is cosmetic.
How do you start up a grant foundation?
Go to http://www.grants.gov for a list of government grants and how you can apply for them.
Then, Go to http://www.score.org/ and in the upper left hand corner, enter your zip code. On the next screen, you will get information on the nearest SCORE chapter. Call them and arrange for a free meeting with a SCORE counselor.
