Which is better, a bridge or a partial plate?

A front tooth broke off at root and could not be fixed. I had a partial made for missing tooth two years ago (cheaper option). The partial is out of my mouth more than in. I find it very uncomfortable. I can have a bridge made for 5 front teeth (very expensive). Wondering if a bridge is better as age (over 50) and soft teeth are a factor.

Which is better, a bridge or a partial plate?
There are several factors to consider. In no particular order:

money! As you have already stated a partial is less expensive than a bridge.

Other teeth: If the teeth that the bridge is going to be cemented to are already fragile, then you are just going to be adding much more unwanted pressure to those teeth. And with them being front teeth, you will not be able to bite anything (corn on the cob, apple...)

cleaning: you will have to pay close attention to the cleaning process if you get a bridge. you can get an odor from food caught under the bridge. You can at least take the partial out of your mouth to clean it.

comfort! Yes a bridge will be more comfortable. However, you should be able to go back to the dentist for adjustments on you partial. the clasps will need to be loosened or tightened and pressure spots will need to be released.

If I were going to get something just judging by you description, I would get a partial. Over all, a partial is more convenient. I was just able to talk my mother into getting a partial. She was in your same situation and she loves hers. She just had to get her adjustments until it fit like she wanted it to.

Good luck and Happy smiling!
Reply:At age 50 a bridge isn't going to be any better in your mouth then a partial plate, I have a partial plate that I have had for eight years now because I got a few teeth knocked out and like you said it is cheaper then a bridge. The only differences I can see is a bridge will weaken the other teeth around it, where a partial plate hooks onto the teeth around it.
