Why am I in so much pain after my wisdom teeth removal?

I had all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth removed on Wednesday. Today is Sunday. I am in excruciating pain. The doctor gave me vicodin and motrin. I ran out of vicodin yesterday and went to the emergency room (military) because the pain would not go away. The doctor looked in my mouth for about 5 seconds (not even kidding), said I was fine and gave me percocet. The percocet makes me woosy but doesn't take the pain away. Is it possible the emergency room doctor missed something? He didn't even look around just looked straight in and that was it. I feel cheated like he didn't think I was serious about the pain. Since I've already been to the emergency room once and they said it was nothing I'm reluctant to go back, but the pain is almost unbearable and it's moving into my head because it's so intense.

Any advise? Thank in advance.

The nerves near that area is very sensitive, tylenol 3 should help. Ice pack, ice pack and ice pack on your jaw will also help. I had pain for a month so good luck.
Reply:Wow, I had my wisdom teeth removed on wednesday and five other teeth also. I'm also in unbelievable pain. But, when I went to my surgeon to ask about the pain, he said that I'm in so much pain because he had to open up my gums, put in more stitches etc....and it was harder to surgically remove the teeth than a usual case of removing wisdom teeth. So, that might be the case with you. It is also possible he missed something tho. Did you ask if you had dry sockets or an infection? You don't want to end up with an infection so I would seriously consider calling or going in to check that out specifically.
Reply:must have developed a dry socket. Usally we remove the left or right side, why all four? Take antibiotics %26amp; pain killers. Apply a cotton roll dipped in clove oil into the socket.
