Hi, I got my wisdom teeth removed 3 weeks ago and my stitches are still in. The dentist messed up and scheduled my appointment a week after and I was at school when I was supposed to be in the office. So I missed the appointment today and have to go back to school tomorrow so they wouldn't be able to come out until the end of march. Is this too long?
How long can my wisdom teeth stitches be left in?
i had all my wisdom teeth taken out via surgery......they were all impacted......
my oral surgen used the dissolving stiches.....
my check up after the surgery was to check the stiches had gone and the insisions stayed healed.
i would make another appt. and get in when they can if it is just a recheck and to remove your stiches there should be no reason they should make you wait that long it takes 10 minutes tops....(unless something didn't heal right)
march is already over you mean the end of april???
aslong as you keep your mouth clean....and brush and rinse after every meal...and snack (a quick gargle and rinse should be alright for after a snack) then it should be fine.
and if you notice signs of infection give them a call
i.e. pain, swelling tenderness, discharge......

Reply:You should have had dissolvable stitches that dissolve when you are healed enough to go w/o them.
