I can't really chew much with my back teeth?

Before I get my 2nd phase of braces (YAAAAAY) I must wear this... kinda double retainer thing, to make my lower jaw come out forward a bit.

It has worked way to well, and my teeth are aligned in the front now, which means that my back teeth aren't. I can't close my jaws enough for my back teeth to touch each other.

I guess, first I want to ask if this will be corrected with braces. Second, what the hell should I do? I can still chew enough to enjoy eating, but... ghaaa it's very annoying. I miss the days when I could grind my meat.... crush it and grind it and just keep GRINDING IT AND SWALLOW AND MMMMM... but not any more :(

Hang in there. Tell your orthodontist and they can adust it. It might very well be part of the treatment to align your teeth perfectly. Your doctor should be better able to explain what is going on.
Reply:The whole process takes time. Call your dentist for advice on what to do in the meantime. Avoid foods that require a lot of chewing and grinding for now. You'll get your chance soon enough.
