My dog chewed up my top retainer (I left it on the counter, I know bad move), and now a hunk of plastic is missing in the front right corner, and part or the left side is cracked. All the wires exept for the middle left one are still completely attached to the plastic, (it's still in the plastic, but just the part that is cracked, and I can move the cracked piece of plastic away form the rest of the retainer, and the wire comes with it) and the wires were a little bent, but i think i moved them back into place, but i think when i wear the retainer it moves my teeth in the wrong direction. I still have to go to the ortho to get a new one, but my teeth move really quickly, and I want to keep them from moving as much as possible, expecially now that they have already shifted. Are there any ways to keep them from moving? Anything???? I don't want braces again!!!!
Is there any way to keep my teeth form moving while my retainer is broken?
I don't think there is a way. lol That sucks your dog chewed it, I'm sorry! Just go to ortho as SOON as possible, and when you get your new retainer wear it as you are supposed to. Your teeth will move back into their right places. Depending on how much they've shifted in that time, your mouth might be a lil' sore for awhile.
Reply:i also wear retainers and i know that when u take it off for a long time, your teeth would move back to what they used to be. well having a new one wont take that long. it took only a day for me to get one. dont worry, it wont move too much but the movement of your teeth wont get corrected anymore once it has moved already. well there could be chances to correct it, ask your ortho.
Reply:I don't think so. I had a retainer type deal before braces, if you wear it like you're supposed to when you get the new one, your teeth should move back fairly quickly.
