So has anyone besides me had to get their wisdom teeth out.?
I got mine out when I was in my mid-20s, shortly after I developed an infection in my gums where one of them was coming through. They gave me an IV, but before they did, they gave me nitrous oxide. The nitrous was the worst part about the whole thing. It made me feel so sick. I felt like I was going to vomit. I kept trying to pull away from the mask which only made the doctor clamp it over my mouth and nose harder. Their reason for using it was to make it easier to put in the IV. I personally think they should have just stuck the needle in. They would have had less trouble. Afterward, I remember being woken up. I started babbling away. I had no idea what I was saying and I was completely clueless about the fact that my mouth was full of gauze. I spent the night at my parent's house in case I needed help with anything. I only needed the prescription painkillers the first day as I have a very high threshold for pain. I only stayed on a liquid diet for a day or two. After that, I stuck with soft foods until I knew the sockets were healed, if not yet filled in. It's a real pain once they heal to pick food out of them when brushing your teeth. If I remember right, I was back to work within 2 or 3 days. I didn't get too much of the chipmunk cheeks and I had minimal bruising. Overall, it wasn't a horrible experience. I watched a lot of DVDs at the time. And yes, I was quite bored. I was glad my mother didn't work as at least I could have someone to talk to before I went back to my apartment.
Reply:i got my wisdom teeth out when i was 13 years old. they gave me an IV which took all the pain away and i didn't feel a thing. i actually had my friend spend the night that night so i wasn't in hardly any pain. i think its because the younger you are, the faster you heal. it does suck though !
Reply:Well the put me to sleep, felt nothing. Swollen for a while, spat out blood for the first day. Like you, had a liquid diet, stitches dissolved and that was that.
Reply:yeah, all 4 at one shot....what a bitc*h.....but i don't really miss them now

the worst thing was the crunching and grinding sounds and the pressure of the tools pulling and breaking them as he pulled them out....i was awake for the whole thing, but didn't feel anything.

glad i don't have to do that again.....
Reply:You are correct when you say that a lot of people have gotten their wisdom teeth out. Naturally, there is not enough room in the mouth for these teeth. Who knows why they even exist.

I had mine taken out when I was 19. I was miserable for the next day, or two, but having these teeth taken out eventually was a good choice.
Reply:Wow. I had mine surgically removed. Had no pains, no problems. I don't even remember a diet change.
Reply:I had mine removed two at a time by a company called SciRx. They paid me to try a pain medication to see how well it worked on dental pain after extractions. The first time the medication was wonderful and I was up and going taking care of the kids within 6 hours and eating soft foods. The second time I went the medicine they used afterwards did not work. I was in so much pain to the point of puking that I wanted to die. After about an hour of this pain the nurse at the facility gave me a shot of demerol and knocked me into LALA land. I was sick for about 4 days and didnt eat anything soild for about a week
Reply:I was 13 when I had mine out. All I remember was the AWFUL numbing injections. Lol
