What causes those white spots/areas whiter than others (some yellow) on your teeth?

my son is 14 and has those appearing on his teeth... just wondering, if it's a certain vitamin that could be missing in his diet that causes this? He is brushing 2 x day... he has realy nice %26amp; healthy teeth... so said our Dentist. I've seen it on other people too.

Please, only serious answers... Thanks for your input :)

Have a nice %26amp; peaceful night/day or weekend :)

Same problem many years ago, I was told it was a lack of calcium, and was given tablets to

help boost mine up. But it could be the lack of

other vitamins!!

Must add that the very slight areas on my teeth did not really improve. I guess I should have seen the dentist earlier than I did!
Reply:using too much toothpaste for a brushing
Reply:mottling of the teeth just doesn't appear...if you are just noticing spots now...it could be a decalification of the tooth. is your water floridated? is your son taking fluoride pills(if lacking in your water)? if your dentist was conscerned he would have broached the subject. could your son have staining..thus making his teeth look spotty. stay away from toothpastes that are abrasive..it will harm the enamel. consult with your dentist at your next visit.
Reply:THE CORRECT ANSWER IS DECALCIFICATION.
Reply:It's a lack of Calcium. Some tabs of calcium will help fix the problem.
Reply:dear i have suffered from the same problem ,but my dentist told me dont worry for it,it may be natural and surely disappear with time ,as now my problem have been solved upto 80%
Reply:I had those same white spots when I was very young. I was told that this can happen if you've experienced high fevers as an infant, which I did have 2x. Both times it was because my teeth were coming in. I was hospitalized with temps of over 106 and febrile convulsions.
Reply:I agree with Dr. Albert... I was going to call Mr. Toothy, he never accepts calls on Sunday...
Reply:I'm 14 also, and I have the same problem. My teeth are like that because when I was younger, my pediatrician recommended these pills because I was sick, and they bleached my teeth, because they were too strong. It's been years since this has happened, and the marks are still there. I think that you and your son can go to the dentist, and they can fix this. It'll probably work.
Reply:hi peace! It is just lack of calcium. It can also appear on your fingernails(those white spots)Just have your son drink more milk :]
